Unique Stargazing in 2020
The Eastern Sierra Observatory has released its 2020 stargazing dates, and the New Year will offer some exciting visitor suggestions such as adults-only party nights, Perseids Parties, and a special Valentine’s Day weekend. The huge telescope, hot tub, stargazing lounge, and SHIFTPOD accommodations will of course still be the heart of this stargazing experience.
In addition to the regular ESO amenities, visitors will also get their pictures taken in the “Milky Way Photo Booth,” and receive a digital copy of the image. Visitors who bring a DSLR camera or smartphone will have the opportunity to attach it to huge 14” telescope to capture images of the moon, planets, and even deep sky objects such as galaxies, star clusters, and nebulae! Whether you want to capture the night with your camera, or just relax under the stars with the telescope and hot tub — there are endless ways to enjoy your stargazing stay.
Aside from the nighttime fun, the evening and morning views from the observatory are also amazing. A wide range of the Sierra lies across the valley, including the Palisades Glacier, Mt. Tom, Humphries, and even all the way down to Mt. Williamson — there are views for days!
Being located at the site of a old gold mine, there are also plenty of cool looking rocks all over the place. Feel free to find some favorites and take them home with you.
When your night of stargazing comes to an end, your SHIFTPOD experience will have just begun. These spacey shelters have a lot of room to move around, and the memory foam cots inside make for a very comfortable sleep.
Only 60 stargazing dates are available in 2020 — all situated around new moons to ensure dark skies during your visit. For more info or to book your stay, goto EasternSierraObservatory.com or hit the button below.
