Launch Yourself Into The Cosmos

As you may know, the long-anticipated Eastern Sierra Dark Sky Festival is on hold once again while the venue gets sorted out, but, we’ve regrouped to deliver you the 2022 Eastern Sierra Dark Sky Days! The Dark Sky Days will bring astronomy lectures, telescope viewings, Astronomy on Tap, Stargazing Partyland, nightscape photography workshops, trivia, giveaways, and more to various venues on the Eastside — both free and ticketed. See the schedule below for dates, times, and locations. And, as far as the full blown festival goes, be on the lookout for exciting news later this year regarding 2023!

9-11:15pm “Understanding Galaxy Evolution” presentation featuring cool simulations with Dr. Cameron Hummels of Caltech (IG: @chummels) & Q&A afterwards while a telescope is beamed onto the big screen!

Lecture Night with Caltech Professor Katherine de Kleer along with telescope viewing, SHIFTPOD accommodations, and all the amenities of the Eastern Sierra Observatory (minus the hot tub). Tuesday, June 28th @ Eastern Sierra Observatory

New Moon Stargazing Partyland w/ DJs T. Wrecks & Will Nye — Adults 21+ Only, Tickets include an option for SHIFTPOD accommodations for two people with two padded cots (you bring your own bedding/pillows), or, an option for single tickets without a SHIFTPOD but instead a padded cot to sleep under the stars.

Please note that parking onsite is limited and single ticket holders will most likely need to park a few hundred feet down the mountain. Carpooling is encouraged! Ticket holders with SHIFTPOD accommodations will be guided/shuttled up around 6pm, and single ticket holders may arrive any time after 8pm, and will need to find their own way up/down the mountain. Four wheel drive is needed to make it all the way up, but many other vehicles can make it very close (close enough to walk the rest of the way). There will be one guided trip up the mountain promptly at 7:45pm in which you can follow in your (hopefully carpooled) vehicle.

Please note all sales are final and there are no refunds for Dark Sky Days events, however, you may transfer any ticket to someone else if you’re unable to attend for any reason. Also, by purchasing tickets, you and everyone in your party agrees that they have read, acknowledge, and agree to our liability waiver.
